In response to Aleksandar Vučić’s invitation to his “political opponents” to talk about where Serbia stands in the world today, Solidarity replies with just one question:
Why is it that after 13 years of his absolute power, after countless speeches and sneaking around international forums, Serbia, instead of becoming a member of the European Union, has turned into a loose thread on the carpet that the civilized world avoids? Let him answer, within this single question, why not a single chapter has been permanently closed and why we are regressing by every parameter: the rule of law, independence of institutions, energy policy, media freedom, the state of healthcare and education, foreign policy, freedom of movement of people and goods across borders, the real sector of the economy, the fight against organized crime, the condition of agriculture, pollution of land, water and air, workers’ and trade union rights… and why we have advanced only on the ranking lists of the most indebted and most corrupt states.
The position of Serbia in the world is not discussed with the one who has turned this country into the prey of a crony enterprise. Such a person is required to submit a report to the citizens of Serbia and then be held legally accountable.
