Statement by the Solidarity Civic Movement Regarding the Arrests Connected to the Discovery of a Mass Grave in Kosovo

The Solidarity Civic Movement expresses its concern regarding the arrests carried out in Kraljevo in connection with the disclosure of information about a suspected mass grave near Zubin Potok in northern Kosovo.

According to publicly available information, Kosovo's institutions suspect that a site in Malo Kaluđer may be linked to the disappearance of a group of 23 Albanian civilians in northern Kosovo in April 1999. Among those who disappeared were doctors, professors, lawyers, and other distinguished members of the community, known as the "Mitrovica Intellectuals Group." Human remains have been discovered during the excavation, and their identity will be determined through DNA analysis.

Solidarity believes that all crimes must be investigated, without exception and regardless of the identity of the victims or the perpetrators.

The process of establishing the fate of missing persons must not be subject to political pressure, witness intimidation, or obstruction of investigations. Truth and justice for the victims of war crimes and their families are essential foundations for lasting reconciliation and long-term regional stability.

Solidarity calls on the competent authorities to ensure full and transparent cooperation, to conduct investigations professionally, and to end practices that may hinder or prevent the discovery of the truth.
