State against citizens - the Vučić regime started a political war in Vojvodina

The Solidarity civic movement strongly condemns the wave of political violence carried out by members and supporters of the Serbian Progressive Party in several towns in Vojvodina—on August 11 in Bački Petrovac, and then during the night between August 12 and 13, 2025, in Vrbas, Bačka Palanka, and Novi Sad.

What we witnessed, and what was also captured on camera, was not a series of isolated incidents, but orchestrated, planned, organized, and executed political violence carried out by order of the President of the Republic, Aleksandar Vučić, with the full support and active complicity of the Government of the Republic of Serbia. Citizens were attacked with firecrackers, bottles, eggs, and stones. Police officers were also injured, yet there is no information about the arrest of the SNS attackers.

The police acted deliberately and selectively. Instead of protecting the attacked citizens, they formed a cordon against them, while thugs went on a rampage behind police lines. This is not negligence—this is complicity. Today, the Ministry of the Interior does not function as a state institution, but as a private security service of the Serbian Progressive Party.

The prosecution remains silent. And silence in such situations is not neutrality—it is direct protection of the perpetrators and organizers of violence.

Pro-regime media have once again shown that they function as a propaganda megaphone for the authorities, not as an information service for citizens. By lying, relativizing, and equating attackers with victims, they not only justify political violence—they normalize it.

The political incitement of citizens against one another must be stopped immediately, and the bloodshed that the government is deliberately provoking must be prevented. That is why we demand the resignation of the President of the Republic, Aleksandar Vučić, the dismissal of the entire Government of Serbia, and the formation of a technical government that will ensure free and fair elections. We demand the arrest and prosecution of all attackers, organizers, and instigators—without exception, including those holding the highest state offices. We demand the immediate dismissal of all police officers who participated in concealing and facilitating the violence.

Political violence will not stop on its own. It will stop the moment citizens clearly and loudly say that they are not afraid, and when those responsible for the violence—from street thugs to the president of the country—are brought to justice.

The Solidarity civic movement stands with the attacked—always, without compromise and without fear.
