Solidarnost Calls on the Government to Act: Dismiss Paunović or Resign!

Every minute that a minister who openly speaks of ethnic cleansing remains in office further damages the reputation of the Republic of Serbia and sends the dangerous message that such rhetoric is acceptable at the highest levels of government.

The words of government ministers are not private opinions—they represent the official position of the Republic of Serbia.

For that reason, responsibility today does not rest solely with Minister Snežana Paunović. It lies above all with the Prime Minister. If the Prime Minister is unwilling to dismiss her immediately, then it is clear that this Government no longer possesses the political or moral authority to lead the country.

The Citizens' Movement Solidarnost demands the immediate dismissal of Minister Snežana Paunović.

Should the Prime Minister fail to act without delay, we demand the resignation of the Government.

Serbia must not remain hostage to the rhetoric and political concepts of the 1990s. Every day of silence from the Government amounts to active acceptance of responsibility for such statements. It is time for the institutions of the state to stand on the side of dignity, European values, and the future—not the past, steeped in hatred.
