The Civic Movement Solidarity mockingly rejects the latest fantasies of the Russian Foreign Intelligence Service (SVR), which is now attempting to portray the genuine protests in Serbia as a “project” of the European Union and a so-called “Serbian Maidan.”
Instead of offering any serious analysis of social problems, the SVR produces cheap propaganda pamphlets in which “Brussels, NATO, and the evil media” are blamed for every justified social uprising. Such rhetoric sends a message of incredible condescending arrogance—that Serbs are supposedly incapable of recognising corruption, arrogance, and injustice on their own, and therefore must be taking instructions from abroad.
The citizens of Serbia do not need to be “radicalised” from outside. It is enough for them to look at the reality of their own country: the arrogance of those in power, poverty, the emigration of young people, party-based employment, the buying of diplomas, and the plundering of resources. These are the real reasons for public dissatisfaction—not fabricated scenarios from Moscow.
The interference of Russian services in Serbia’s internal affairs, which directly serves the interests of the current regime, is not only unacceptable—it is absurd.
Our political goal is clear and principled: the expulsion of Russian agents acting against the interests of Serbia; the prevention of foreign influence that undermines our democracy; and the implementation of measures to neutralise this malign influence—including a review of energy contracts and stricter control of interests that threaten national sovereignty.
