GP Solidarnost informs the public that judicial proceedings are underway in North Macedonia concerning the tragic nightclub fire in Kočani. Seventeen months have passed since the tragedy, and the trial of those responsible is already well underway.

The defendants include:

  • two former ministers of economy,

  • three former mayors of Kočani,

  • three companies,

  • all persons responsible for issuing permits for the nightclub to operate, as well as companies engaged in the use of pyrotechnic devices.

The indictment includes 35 individuals and three legal entities. Due to the large number of participants, the trial is being held in a specially arranged courtroom within the Idrizovo prison complex near Skopje.

Twenty-one months have passed since the collapse of the canopy at the Novi Sad railway station. The investigation is moving slowly, and there is still no trial. Those responsible are not sitting in the defendants’ dock, nor are they under house arrest — they are vacationing around the world.

While in the neighboring country former ministers, mayors and police officers are already facing justice, citizens of Serbia are facing persecution and violence by institutions, security forces, and criminals paid from the public budget.

GP Solidarnost calls on the judicial authorities to do their job: complete the investigation, file indictments, and provide answers to the citizens of Serbia. They must stop avoiding responsibility and start delivering justice.

Until justice. Until victory.
