Enough of violence and silence about violence

The Civic Movement Solidarity expresses its full support for student Nikolina Sinđelić and for all women and girls who have been, and who continue to be, targets of violence in recent days. Nikolina was beaten, subjected to insults, and threatened with rape. Such threats are not merely insults—they are a direct threat to the life, safety, and dignity of every woman. At the same time, she has been exposed online to the most brutal forms of attacks, public shaming, and the distribution of private videos. This is double violence—physical and digital—and both are equally devastating and dangerous.
It is especially unacceptable and shameful that individuals from institutions whose duty is to protect the citizens of this country are participating in such acts. When those who are meant to guarantee security abuse their position to spread violence and target women, this is not only an abuse of power—it is a betrayal of public trust and a direct threat to the safety of all. Marko Krićak, as the commander of the Unit for the Protection of Certain Persons and Objects, must be held accountable for his actions and for the actions of his subordinates.
Such behavior must not go unpunished. The silence of the institutions means complicity and sends a message that violence against women is tolerated. This is unacceptable and must stop immediately.
The Civic Movement Solidarity supports the protest “We Are All Nikolina,” which will be held tomorrow in Belgrade, as a sign of solidarity with all women who have suffered violence, humiliation, and institutional injustice. We call on all citizens to take to the streets and show clearly that violence will not pass. Enough is enough. Those who commit violence must be held accountable, and those who remain silent become accomplices.
