6,000 Dinars for Citizens — Humiliation and Debt

In the familiar manner of the Serbian Progressive Party (SNS) and its coalition partners, citizens of Serbia will receive 6,000 dinars ahead of the elections.
This time, Serbian taxpayers’ money is also being sent to Republika Srpska — once again, just before elections.
The bill, as always, will be paid by the citizens of Serbia.
The Fiscal Council warns that this “assistance” will largely be financed through an increase in public debt. A debt that citizens will have to repay — with interest.
So Vučić is not giving us 6,000 dinars. He is indebting us so that, ahead of the elections, he can give us a portion of borrowed money, while the repayment comes after the elections.
This is not assistance. It is an election-time loan that will also be repaid by generations who are not yet old enough to vote.
If the goal were genuinely to help people who actually need the money, the state has social registries and dozens of databases through which it can identify them. The Fiscal Council points this out as well. But the money is being given to everyone. Ahead of the elections.
At the same time, Serbian taxpayers’ money is also being distributed across the Drina. Republika Srpska is part of another country.
Apparently, the polls are so bad that, in the panic before the elections, money is being handed out in every direction.
First, they take our money through taxes and fees. Then they indebt us without asking. Then they return a tiny fraction of the money they borrowed and expect gratitude.
That is not generosity. It is the humiliation of citizens turned into an election spectacle.
This is the abuse of the state for electoral campaigning.
The money is ours. The debt is ours. The only thing that belongs to him is the abuse.
